Midthunder is a member of the Fort Peck Assiniboine Tribe. Her birthplace was on the Navajo Nation in Shiprock, New Mexico, and eventually moved back to the area after spending a lot of her childhood in Santa Fe, where she attended the Academy for Technology and the Classics as well as her mother's job at a casting company. Amber originates from a Native American family on her father's side. Both are members of the Fort Peck Sioux Tribe. Amber's mother was adopted, so Amber is of unknown mixed ancestry. Prey stars a majority of Native American actors, such as Dakota Beavers (who is Blackfeet and Comanche) as well as Jhane Meiers, who has been helping the production for years.
